Latest painting

After finishing a series of paintings recently, I was emptying my table and cleaning the palettes in preparation for new work when I was inspired by this colorful washrag. Painting it felt almost symbolic – first I used the rag to clean my palettes to make space for something new, and then I painted it, sort of as a mental palate cleanser, before moving on to the next project.

Jenna Laine (b.1992, Finland) is a Helsinki based contemporary artist. She began her creative career in the textile industry, designing and making custom garments, headwear and accessories. She has since moved entirely into the visual arts but her background in craftsmanship continues to show in her work, where attention to…
